ALMA Students hanging out at the 2018 Conference

ALMA Students hanging out at the 2018 Conference

ALMA knows that medical school is hard, and being one’s authentic self can be even harder.

ALMA actively works to help include its student members and support them through their learning, including

  • Subsidised conference fees and financial support to help eliminate financial barriers which may prevent students attending.

  • An online network for students, run by students to provide support and foster a sense of community

  • Providing networking and mentoring opportunities

Student Views On ALMA

It gives me a sense of community and belonging when you can’t always get that in Med because the community isn’t easily visible
— J (NZ)
ALMA is an inclusive, supportive community of passionate and strong women, helping each other to find their way through this crazy world of medicine
— - Roshana (NZ)
I joined ALMA not really knowing what to expect, I wanted to find my place in Medicine, I’m so glad I did it’s just such an inclusive wonderful group and a second family
— Bailey {NSW)

Ash “I’m a final year Deakin medical student who has an interest in GP life and emergency medicine. I’m a proud mum to two goofy dogs and a lacklustre, neglected, veggie patch. A classic Melbournian, I loves eating smashed avo and sipping a flat white/ instead of saving for a house."
